About the Artist
My name is Linda Jensen and I live in the extreme Northern part of California on the Coast. I am surrounded by beautiful Redwood trees and LOTS of fog! Up here behind the "Redwood Curtain" life is a little slower and a lot more relaxed. The perfect setting for creating beautiful art.
I have always loved rocks, especially those with unusual colors, designs and shapes. When it comes to my passion for faceted colored gemstones, I consider myself the ultimate rock hound.
I am a self taught jewelry artist and I discovered my own style over time. My jewelry is truly unique in it elegance, style, design, and use of faceted gemstones or natural cabochons of unusual shapes and colors.
I started creating jewelry in the early 1990’s using natural gemstone beads that fed my rock hound tendencies. I discovered wire a few years later and as they say “the rest is history”.
I use 14k gold fill wire in my wire wrap designs and when I start a new piece the wire will take on a life of its own. I never really know where the piece is going to end up until it gets there. The stone I choose for a particular piece also plays a huge role in its ultimate design. I will stare at a gemstone sometimes for weeks before the design I want to create for it becomes a reality. I am obsessive about the quality of each piece and will tear one apart and scrap the gold before I would consider putting it out there for the world to see.
I have always been an admirer of all things Victorian and have always loved the look of filigree. One day I decided I didn’t have enough challenges in my life so I set out to learn the art of creating silver filigree jewelry. I love the creative feeling that working with all of those swirls and spirals gives me. Drawing a design and then bringing it to life with my hands and fire is a hugely satisfying feeling.
I have always been a creative person and I know with my jewelry I have found the perfect outlet. Designing beautiful wearable artwork is something I am passionate about and I think that shows in every piece of jewelry I have created.
Linda
